Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo has told his friends he is “feeling his age” and could cut short his return to Old Trafford, the UK Sun reports.

The 37-year-old, who has not netted in his last five games, is on course to have his least productive season.

Although Ronaldo is United’s top scorer with eight Premier League goals, he only has half as many as Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

He has also come under fire for his lack of pressing and mobility.

As well as United looking to bring in a young striker, Ronaldo himself is having increasing doubts over his ability to keep on performing for United.

The Portugal captain has told friends he is feeling the pace of the football in England and his age may finally be catching up with him, although he would never admit it in public.

Ronaldo is even considering cutting short his United comeback and leaving in the summer if his own situation – and that of the team – does not change dramatically.

Manchester United legend, Roy Keane believes the club’s FA Cup fourth-round defeat to Middlesbrough on Friday will affect the Red Devils’ next fixtures.

Keane said he expected the former Premier League title holders to defeat the Championship side after putting up a fantastic performance in the first half.

Championship side Boro recorded a surprising win in the FA fourth round progressing to the fifth round on an 8-7 penalty shoot-out victory.

Jadon Sancho put United into a deserved lead and Matt Crooks levelled for the visitors in the second half with the game headed into extra time and penalty shootout.

“You have to be critical of Manchester United. The first half, they were fantastic, but they are playing a Championship team at home in the cup,” Keane told ITV.

“Obviously, it’s not good enough. Defeat changes the mood. It changes the mood in the ground as well.

“The fans would have been thinking they would win tonight and, being at home, I fully expected them to beat a Championship team.

“But now, it just adds more and more pressure to the upcoming games.”

Manchester United striker, Mason Greenwood, has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault.

Earlier on Sunday, Greenwood’s girlfriend, Harriet Robson, accused him of domestic violence.

Harriet uploaded several pictures and audio recordings on her Instagram page in the morning.

The club has now announced that the 20-year-old will not play or train, until the police conclude their investigations.

“Greater Manchester Police were made aware earlier today (Sunday 30 January) of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.

“An investigation was launched and following enquiries we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault. He remains in custody for questioning. Enquiries are ongoing,” a statement from Greater Manchester Police statement read.

United in their own statement, said: “Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice.”
