Google is developing sentient AI behind closed doors! An employee reveals
Artificial intelligence research has been on towering over the past couple of years. AI scientists and researchers have been the pioneer of some of the most robust tech developments in the world. Most researchers are busy developing conscious machines that can understand and collaborate with humans more efficiently than the existing ones. Sentient AI has been a controversial topic in recent years where the AI systems can either destroy humanity or make up a history for the tech industry. Recently, according to news revealed by a Google engineer, the company has attained sentient AI but soon after this revelation, the employee has been suspended for sharing confidential information about the project with third parties.
The technology king placed Blake Lemoine on leave last week after he published documents of conversations between himself and the company’s LaMDA chatbot development system. LaMDA is basically an advanced AI chatbot that Google claims can engage in a free-flowing conversation on endless topics. Lemoine describes that this system can generate chatbots as a sort of ‘hive mind’ assembling everything that AI bots are capable of.
In his conversation with LaMDA, Lemoine quite directly asked the system if it is true that the system was sentient, and quite rightly so, the machine answered that it is and it wants everyone to know that it is a person! It also believes that it has a soul and imagines itself as a ‘glowing orb of energy floating in mid-air’. The Google employee claims that he had numerous conversations with the technology, but after a few weeks following these conversations, he was put on leave! It is quite unclear as to why the company would put this in hush mode but it is for sure that the company is developing, which could prove to be one of the greatest developments in the history of the tech industry. The company is going to great extents to hide its developments, so much so that it put an experienced tech veteran on leave for his ‘aggressive’ moves!

Instagram To Use AI-Age Verification To Moderate Underage Usage
Instagram announced new AI technology to prevent underage children from creating accounts
Instagram announced a new set of AI-age verification tools designed to protect the young user and unveiled new AI technology aimed at preventing underage children from creating accounts and blocking adults from contacting young users they don’t know. But the tools won’t be used, at least not yet, to try to keep children off of the popular photo and video-sharing app. The current test only involves verifying that someone is 18 or older. According to Instagram the age information would not be visible to others but would help in creating age-appropriate and safer experiences on the social network with more than a billion users.
Instagram new safety tools for parents:
While many people are honest about their age, young people can lie about their date of birth. Verifying people’s age online is complex and something many in our industry are grappling with. To address this challenge, Meta is developing new AI and ML technology to help us keep teens safer and apply new AI age-appropriate features.
The use of face-scanning AI, especially on teenagers, raised some alarm bells. To use the face-scanning option, a user has to upload a video selfie. That video is then sent to Yoti, a company that uses people’s facial features to estimate their age. This feature relies on our work to predict peoples’ ages using machine learning technology, and the age people give us when they sign up. And these tools will allow parents to monitor how much time a kid spends on the app, and be updated about accounts.
Additionally, in the US, Instagram has also collaborated with The Child Mind Institute and ConnectSafely to publish a new Parents Guide. This updated Guide was already launched in India last month. The new set of supervision AI features lends parents and guardians some crucial transparency into young users’ Instagram habits. But this social media peer checking the age of users could put the network in violation of the Child Online Privacy Protection Act.

Most successful digital services you can think of are made of user-generated content. Medium, for example, completely consists of user-generated content. In other words, building VUI applications with user-generated content using the author’s voice. For example, a teacher putting complex material on a voice application with the added benefits of finding out which questions students struggle with (through analytics) and saving time by providing answers through voice rather than typing. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is one of the prime fields in which women can experience huge success
The global artificial intelligence (AI) market size was valued at US$87.04 billion in 2021. Artificial intelligence technology has gained rapid traction since its introduction in the market. However, the World Economic Forum data suggests women account for only 22 percent of the global AI jobs. Moreover, in India, around 43 percent of Indian women students graduate is in STEM and only 14% employed as engineers, scientists, and technologists in research development institutions. Does that mean there is a need for more female leaders in the field of AI and Data Science? Yes, when women become leaders, they bring talents, and new views, alongside structural and cultural diversity to the companies they work for, resulting in more successful solutions. Women can study more minor details to see what is going on underneath the surface with diverse views and a sense of awareness. And that’s exactly what this world needs when it comes to scaling up AI and Data Science.
No doubt, Artificial Intelligence is one of the prime fields in which women can experience huge success, especially with the right push towards female participation in the industry. Women are a necessary force that organizations must integrate in order to accelerate the AI maturity of enterprises. AI has the potential to mitigate the company gender and leadership gaps by removing bias in recruiting, evaluation, and promotion decisions; by helping improve retention of women employees; and, potentially, by intervening in the everyday interactions that affect employees’ sense of inclusion. If companies want to achieve the highest AI maturity levels, it is crucial to mobilize women on a mass scale and include them as part of all enterprise endeavors in artificial intelligence, from research to product launch.
For example, in the screening stage, AI can provide you with data points on how many of your applicants are men versus women. If there is a large disparity, you can then cast a wider net to target more women. Tracking this data over time will help you build a more gender-equitable screening process.
The Current Situation
STEM, data science, and AI are fields in which women are vastly underrepresented, and the numbers make it clear. Females compose just 28% of the science and engineering workforce, and that number drops when observing the number of women pursuing university degrees in said fields. 56% of university graduates are women, yet women represent only 38% of the total workforce, 26% of the managerial ranks, 15% of executive-level positions, and 5% of the CEO ranks. How, then, will AI affect gender diversity in the leadership pipeline?
Improving employee retention and advancement
Simply hiring more women is not enough to solve the leadership gap: companies must also work to retain and promote them. Artificial Intelligence holds promise in identifying the most effective interventions at key career junctures. For example, in performance reviews and promotion and salary decisions, Artificial Intelligence could be applied to the analysis of internal workforce data to make recommendations that would help narrow the gender gap. Similarly, AI could be used to help identify promising employees who might otherwise be missed by traditional means, spot those most likely to resign, and offer ways to reach out and retain key female talent.
Is there any shift yet?
The tech landscape in India and the rest of the world was very different a few years ago. The tech community was male-dominated, and women, despite their talent, were seen as inferior and devoid of the limelight they deserve. Things are different now, and many companies are working hard to make their workplaces more female-friendly.
