About the University

Imperial College Business School is the business school of Imperial College London. The business school was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in 2004. Around 90 percent of the faculty are from outside of the United Kingdom, with alumni in 124 countries.

The business school history can be traced to its earliest origins in 1955 when the Operational Research/Management Science (ORMS) course began at Imperial in the Production Engineering Section of the Mechanical Engineering Department. There were only 5 students enrolled when the program started in October 1955 at 14 Prince’s Gardens, with an arrangement in place for scholars to be able to attend one-day intensive economics and accounting courses for one or two terms at the London School of Economics. The agreement became a joint one lasting until 1966. However, in the mid-1960s, there was even the idea of forming a joint School of Administration, Economics, and Technology (between Imperial and LSE) but this was eventually rejected in favor of a new graduate school of business being initiated in the capital. Imperial and LSE acted as co-sponsors in the establishment of this new school, named the London Graduate School of Business Studies and now known as the London Business School.

Therefore, the London Business School’s first academic planning board contained the heads of Imperial College and LSE.

From the ORMS course, a Department of Management Science (DMS) was founded at Imperial in 1971, under the administration of Samuel Eilon. The department was comprised of staff and students from Imperial’s Industrial Sociology Unit and at its source had 15 academic staff and about 60 students on an MSc course. Over the ensuing years, the department grew and its priority shifted toward business studies.

Moreso. in 1987 the Department of Management Science was combined with Imperial’s Department of Social and Economic Studies to form a new School of Management, established in 2 large Victorian houses on Exhibition Road. David Norbun was the first Director and the School launched a new three-year part-time Executive MBA course.

Loughborough University is a public research university in the market town of Loughborough, Leicestershire, England. It has been a university since 1966, but it dates back to 1909 when Loughborough Technical Institute started with a focus on skills directly applicable in the wider world.

In March 2013, the university declared it had bought the former broadcast center at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as a second campus. It belonged to the 1994 Group of smaller research universities until the group disbanded in November 2013.

Loughborough University’s annual income for 2020–2021 was £308.9 million, of which £35.5 million was from research grants and contracts. The university is in the top 7 in every UK university league table and top in its region.

However, the university was named University of the Year in 2019 by The Times. In 2020, Loughborough University was awarded the University of the Year by the WhatUni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs).

Moreover, this was decided by over 41,000 student reviews from more than 150 higher education institutions. Loughborough University traces its roots back to 1909 when a Technical Institute was established in the town center.

Furthermore, there followed a period of rapid expansion, during which it was renamed Loughborough College and the development of the present campus began.

In the early years, efforts were made to simulate the environment of an Oxbridge college (e.g. students wore gowns to lectures) whilst maintaining a strong practical corrective to academic learning.

Furthermore, during World War I, it served as an “instructional factory”, training workers for the munitions industry.

The university has been rated 215th in the World’s Top 500 universities by the QS World University Rankings (2020). In 2010 there was widespread condemnation of Victoria University of Wellington removing the Gender Studies department. In 2017, a minor in Gender Studies was made available.

In response to this, a spokesperson for Victoria University of Wellington stated that “student safety was a key focus, and the university had partnered with police and Wellington City Council to encourage awareness of personal safety”.

In late 2015, academics and students at Victoria University of Wellington spoke out at the university hosting Israeli Defence Force troops for a public lecture.

However, the opposition to this public lecture came about because of the soldiers’ involvement in Operation Protective Edge, which is thought to have killed at least 2000 Palestinians, most of them civilians.

Also in 2016, Victoria University of Wellington was mired in a row with the Tertiary Education Union, when it was discovered that union members were being paid less than non-union members.

The University Of The West Of England Chancellors Scholarships In The UK For 2022/2023 – Latest Scholarships

Recipients of the University of the West of England Chancellors Scholarships will be needed to undertake an internship working within the International Office or other departments and will also be needed to undertake ambassadorial activity for the University throughout the course.

The University of the West of England is a public research university, found in and around Bristol, England, which received university status in 1992.

In common with the University of Bristol and the University of Bath, its origin can be traced to the Merchant Venturers’ Technical College, established as a school in 1595 by the Society of Merchant Venturers.

The university is made up of several campuses in Greater Bristol. Frenchay Campus is the largest campus in terms of student numbers, as most of its courses are based there.

However, the city campus provides courses in the creative and cultural industries and is made up of Bower Ashton Studios, Arnolfini, Spike Island, and Watershed.

The institution is affiliated with the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and validates its higher education courses. Frenchay Campus and Glenside Campus are houses to most of the Faculty of Health and Applied Sciences, with a further Adult Nursing cohort founded at Gloucester Campus.

Moreover, Hartpury Campus provides training in animal sciences, sport, equine, agriculture, and conservation. In 2018, the Teaching Excellence Framework was awarded the University Gold.

The University of Bristol was created just a few years after this, leaving the Merchant Venturers Technical College for the foundation of UWE Bristol. The college was partially responsible for the invention of the Bristol College of Science and Technology (BCST) in 1960, which later acquired a royal charter to form the University of Bath in 1965.

The technical college in turn became Bristol Polytechnic in 1970; the then-main campus was at Ashley Down, now a campus of the City of Bristol College.

Furthermore, Bower Ashton Studios was formed in 1969 as the West of England College of Art, which was once the art school of the Royal West of England Academy in Queens Road, Bristol.

The St Matthias site (which is no longer owned by the university) was initially built in Victorian times and was a teacher training college. These campuses, together with campuses in Redland, Ashley Down, Unity Street, and Frenchay became part of Bristol Polytechnic around 1976.

In addition, the volume of world-leading research at UWE Bristol has gone up by 170%, according to the results of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014.

The REF 2014 results disclose that 57 percent of the research submitted by the University of the West of England Bristol was judged to be either world leading or internationally excellent.

The results emphasize the university’s particular strengths in the areas of allied health and nursing, and communications, cultural and media studies.

Results were also ideal in areas such as architecture, built environment and planning; engineering; art and design; computer science; and business and management.

In 2010, the University of the West of England Bristol launched a research repository to host electronic versions of the research of its academics. The University’s Bristol Research Repository is open access.
